One Design, Many Looks (and many many cards!)

As I’ve mentioned before, my summer 2017 goal was to use up all my retired DSP. It’s now winter 2017 (dare I say, the cusp of 2018?) and I’m still working on this goal! It was a far bigger project than I anticipated, but I am very pleased with my progress.

As part of this goal, I stumbled onto a method that I really enjoy. When I find a card design I like, I make as many of that card as I can with the paper supply I have, until every last shred of it is gone (or too small to use). In the case of the dragonfly card that you’ll see below, I made over 60 cards with that design to use up my beautiful Succulent Garden paper.

Then I discovered that I really, really liked this layout! It’s simple enough to make multiples (many many multiples … lol) and can be used with any paper and for any occasion. In the past five months, I’ve made several different card designs with this layout, and I can’t begin to guess how many cards I’ve made in total! It’s really helping me to get through my stash … with the new annual catalogue launching in June, it would be great to have lots of room on my shelves for the new paper and supplies I am sure to buy!

Here are the measurements for this card layout if you’d like to try it.

Card base: 5.5 x 8.5″
Background (if using; as shown in “Peace, Joy, and Love” card): 4 x 5.25″
Cardstock frames: 1.5 x 5 1/8″ and 3 1/8 x 3 1/8″
DSP: 1 3/8 x 5″ and 3 x 3″ (perfect for using up your 6×6″ paper stacks!)
White or vanilla for stamping sentiment

And that’s it! I hope you enjoy this layout and that it helps you use up your stash!

Drop me a comment below and show me what you’ve created with this layout, or tell me which DSP you just can’t bear to part with! Happy Stamping!

I believe that in a world of mass-produced items and electronic communications, giving or receiving a handmade card is really something special. There’s nothing quite like opening your mailbox to find that someone’s been thinking of you. Just as important, I believe that crafting together is good for our hearts and souls! Creativity is like meditation in the way it calms the mind, reducing anxiety, depression, and stress – and no matter how old you are or what you’re going through, healthy and close friendships encourage positive mental health and well-being. If you’re interested in reconnecting with your creativity, I’m here to help! I host virtual and in-person crafting sessions for stampers of any experience level. I look forward to crafting with you!
